Hi all...

The guy that owned the landy before us did a perkins conversion, however there is no cooling fan fitted.

Can someone post up a pic of the best way to fit a fan without a shroud (which we dont have) or offer some advice on a new or secondhand alternative to fit.

I have a fan in the shed, but its woefully small and wont fit unless i start bodging together awkward bits of bracket to get it to fit.

Also, with the electric item is it best to fit in front or behind (engine side) ?

SOrry for the muppet questions... But from reading the forum posts you guys know considerably more about these beasts than me!

Hi
Try the scrap yard or Ebay for any of the newer type cars with electric fans you should be able to fit one in-front of the rad if the rad is standard did that on my last series 3 until I had to change the rad (Couldn't afford a series one at the time so fitted one from a transit diesel and twin fans from a pergeot wired to a switch in the dash).
And wire it to a switch on the dash or you can get thermostat switches that fit in the coolant system such as this 90 DegC Auxiliary thermostat complete kit, kit car 4x4 | eBay UK or this Thermal Switch Thermostat Dial Controller Electric Fan | eBay UK or this HOT ROD ELECTRIC FAN SWITCH RELAY WITH THERMOSTAT KIT | eBay UK .
Hope that helps.

A cheap 16 inch universal fan from e bay just fits through the grill hole and with some little brackets bolts very neatly nice and close to the rad
I have since moved the relay into the cab as even though it was coated in special waterproof spray it had started to corrode.
I just run mine of a switch.

I used one off a cavalier for mine and mounted it in front of the rad because there is no room behind to fit one. Just make sure the fan is turning the right way when you wire it up as some fans are only designed to work in one direction.

I fitted a "push" fan to the front of the rad, however.....

...Puttng fans on front of rads really is not the best place for them, you need as much cold air as possible hitting rad undisturbed, with rad and mounts at front I loose about 15% area of rad....!

They are fitted to front for space only! If you can get it in behind it will perform better!

I might be getting shot of my Kenlowe if I need a larger radiator, send me a PM if your interested....
