Hi all new to this forum, I need advice regarding rust on my freelander 2 that is painted in nasca sand met. the car seams to be rusting on the pressed steel welds under the bonnet on the slam pannel the circles areas and the wheel arches on the rear seams to suffer paint issue to which the paint rubs away to bear metal.

I live on dartmoor wether the harsh weather is effecting the paint:confused:

nothing like trying singvogel is there I have not rust on the paintwork mine is 2001 my wifes is a 98 and she has no rust on the paintwork only undernieth

If the rust warranty is anything like Mercedes (10 years) claiming is usually a waste of time. All the corrosion checks must have been carried out by the MB dealer during servicing, all the servicing has to be up to date with no missed services and the warranty only covers corrosion from the inside out.

Of course I agree the OP should have a go at complaining - it's just that I feel these warranties are written by lawyers who know how to wriggle out of paying up.

Good to know you've got no bodywork rust at that age. (Tratters take note!)

I have some surface rust on the suspension parts - but they are big chunky bits so no worries really.

I think that hosing well in the springtime to get rid of the salt residue in 'nooks and crannies' from the winter gritting is very important.

Singvogel.

if you think about it his is he says there is rust on the inside of his bonnet that must be inside coming out should I shut up now or get myself a bigger spade
