the seals that go between the hardtop and windscreen, side pannals, and windscreen bulkhead etc (mainly all the seals needed body wise) - do they need to be the origionals? do other seals fit the series 3 88? is it possible to make your own? do they need to be rubber? which bonding, sealing agent would you all recommend?

I know when I stripped mine down she was sealed up with all sorts - bits of old rubber, lots of sealent, few original rubbers etc. Think anything that will seal would work, but I will put all new (genuine) seals back on her, they were never exactly waterproof to start with..but by the time you've mucked around making your own, or making a mess with sealent, be alot easier to just get on ebay and order the seals up. The ones your refering to I don't think are that expensive anyway, its the seals with pre-form strips in that are more costly - i.e. door frames and such.

The seals aren't that dear but if you want to use sealant as well then sikaflex is good, but it's a bit permanent.
