Hi guys,

I've ordered a pair of rear discs and pads which have arrived today. I will also be replacing one of the two calipers as it has a seized piston.

What I'm puzzled about is that the discs have come with a pair of threadlocked bolts, one per disc, with a small amount of threadlock on.

I believe these bolts are for replacing the caliper to slide pin mounting bolt - but as I have only two, I am presuming I use one per caliper - is this normal, or are two missing? Also, do I put the replacement bolt in the top or bottom slide pin mounting of the caliper?

RAVE implies that the recommended method for pad replacement is to only undo one bolt and pivot the caliper upwards, but at least on the caliper I am replacing completely this will not work. So I guess my question is: Do I need two more bolts, or can I just put fresh threadlock on the existing ones?

Cheers,

David

While this is an old post I felt I should still answer the question as it may arise again and again. The two bolts are for one side. Two further bolts should come with the set for the other side. However, the old bolts will be perfectly useable unless they have suffered damage or detioration.

For pad changing it is perfectly ok to just release one screw on the caliper. If changing the rotors (disks) all will need to be removed.

Finally, dont forget the anti squeel!
