Hi everybody. Newby to this site. I hope someone can help. My Freelander 2 is needing a new remote key battery. I have tried a few local garages but no one seems interested. One actually quoted me £200 to do it. Is this something l could do myself? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance. Ickey

A new battery needs soldering in, once the case has been broken open. Technically they have a life of about 10 years, at which point new keys are needed. If you are good with your hands, the casing needs opening and a replacement battery is soldered on to the circuit board. Once soldered in, a replacement case can be glued back together around the circuit board.
You can use the other key whilst the work is being carried out.
If you only have one key, then your best bet is to get a new replacement coded, as if the only working key you have fails, the vehicle will be immovable.

Ok Nodge68. I do have two keys so I think I may have to have a go at this. Thanks, Ickey.
