Freelander 1 rails on the three door don't extend to the front as they stop before the sunroofs.
So the question is how to have them extend to the front and keep it neat looking and not Heath Robinson???

I have a long expedition rack that I have a method to attach to the roof rails. Never was that neat on my early Freelander 1 at the front, so asking if there is a neater way.

Did anyone do a light bar for the front?

I'd prefer not to have to drill holes through the roof.

Bit of a challenge!

Tricky. Maybe make up some extensions using 5 door rails?

I've been thinking about a similar project to extend the 5 door rails more towards the rear of the vehicle, making them full length.

I'll have two set of rails when I pick up the new Facelift 3dr, so can play about with the old set as much as I like. The old stuff needs a good bit of TLC as its looking well rough.

I'd love to have a picture of how 5dr rails attach to the front part of the roof. Are there captive nuts already factory fitted or something else?? Wha are the 5dr uprights attaching to? Pictures please if anyone has some.
The 3drs also have those sunroof things which might get in the way???

The expedition rack has enough strength in itself to hold any rail solution all together, so its the anchor to the car points thats the challenge.
Keeping it neat looking a big plus adds to the chalenge.
