Hi,wonder if someone can help me with this problem PLEASE.
I have a esx 2001 td4 and 12 months ago my local garage changed the 2 pro bearings either side of the viscous coupling anyway when i got it back it vibrated terribly underneath the car so took it back and once again the prop was stripped and put back together but no difference at all, anyway my garage coulndnt do any more for me so i have been on 2 wheel drive for 12 months now however i have come accross a video on utube explaining how to change these bearings on the td4 and it explained how to mark everything up so as to put back exactly the same or a vibration will occur under the car ,now i know my garage did not line anything up so is this video right or is my garage right , im confused and if the video is right how do i now line everthing up because i dont know were anything originaly came from.
PLEASE HELP AS THE SNOW IS COMING AND NEED 4WD BADLY WERE WE LIVE

THANKS EVERYONE:confused:

Hi thanks for reply, garage replaced bearings due to them and the rubber they sit in being apsolutely shot and prop able to move about terribly.
Read that thread but still confused as to whats right and whats wrong ????
will have to try again and use what knowledge i have read here but would still appreciate someone explaining whats the correct way
cheers

After removing mine to replace the VCU bearings i started from the front and worked my way back just nipping the bolts and not tightening. This is to allow flexibilty while fitting. I did not mark the shaft prior to taking it off as the shaft is balanced already. You must make sure the VCU bearings are at 90 degrees to the VCU and there are many posts on here to help including pictures. The mounting to the rear diff has offset holes but as for the rest not as far as I know. Here is a link to a thread that is on prop balancing with a lot of knowledgable peeps commenting so take your pick.on completion I tightened all relevant bolt to required torques.
