programme on tother night

Did anybody watch the programme on think it was monday night called cars that made britain, the series land rovers came out top's but they kept reffering to them as defenders, i wondered if anybody else noticed.

didn't see the prog but that would have annoyed me

Reflects bad research and whoever did the editing being too young to know. Didn't see the programme but it would be disappointing if a landy wasn't near the top. What others came out top?

This happened a lot with all the coverage of the last Defender off the production line - my theory is that Jaguar Land Rover do not want ANY publicity/coverage/media that describes the "Land Rover" as being out of production - in other words "Defender" now applies to all "classic" shape LR, so Series through to Defender.
"Land Rover" now applies to current/future products,
just my theory - but yes annoying

They were comparing a series L-R, an early Range Rover, a sports car and a Ford saloon. How could you make a comparison? Vote for the 'best car for the countryside' went to the series. Totally pointless programme imho. I really hope these 'experts' are only pretending to be thick.

Agreed. Cheap TV. with "celebrities" waffling about their "experiences" = complete and utter carp.

Didn't watch it all - can't imagine why

Did anyone see the programme tonight featuring an S1 refurb? Think it was on More4. A predictable format of doing secret makeovers of peoples cars. This S1 was a real odd one. It had a S3 diesel with a turbo, S3 axles, a hard top and other odd fandango DIY bits.It's always interesting to see how landys are presented by non experts. It was reasonably accurate. It also featured the one and only John Craddock (and his business). The landy dated from 1948, that's a long time ago.Programme was more entertainment than a feature on landys.

Yes, it's been on before. 'This turbo really needs rebuilding - oops, can't get the parts - ok it's rebuilt and it's fine'. I wish I had some of that magic fairy dust. They made a great play on leaving it original, fair enough, but I wondered if the turbo could have been replaced and no-one the wiser. John Craddock didn't like it though, did he? I thought the raised bonnet was very neatly done.
