Before I bought my Freelander I already decided to replace the VCU

Now I'm getting outright paranoid about it as the car has done 10300o miles and never had a new VCU to my knowledge. There is nothing in the service records in any case. Also I can hear summit from the rear right when braking.
A possible sign? .....I think so

I'm going to remove the prop shaft tomorrow to give me peace of mind and I will place an order with Bells on Monday.
My question is do I remove the whole lot, front and rear props and the VCU or just the rear prop? :confused2:

I'm completely stumped about that as the last time I had a car with any kind of rear wheel drive removing the Prop resulted in lots of oil leaking out.
I did look at the relevant topics in the How to Section and there is no mention of it but rather save than sorry

Thanx

yep much easier to take the lot off if you're going to put a new one on.

Worth cleaning the inside of the brake drums if there is noise, could be a sticky brake mine had the same.

Send your VCU to bell & they will test it for you , Then you will know how bad or good it is ?

Could be ok for all you know ? But if it's starting to seize they will send you a replacement out .
