Hello All,

Posting for a parent and a complete car novice & looking for some advice. He has a 2013 Range rover auto SDV8 A diesel 4367 cc engine, he has been told the engine is completely knackered and that Land rover don't make those engines anymore so can't get a new replacement and the garage ( a land rover specialist) advises refurbs generally aren't great in their view or worth the money. Vehicle has done 65k mileage. It's a beautiful car and he would really hate to see it have to be put off the road ( also given it's only just 10 years old!) If anyone could offer any advice on whether refurbed engines are generally ok and/or generally costs to expect and a reputable place to source one from if it is possible?

Also a long shot i'm sure.... is there any approach to Landrover for compensation because the car is only 10 years old and it cannot now be replaced with a genuine new part?

Posted on the general forum but was advised to post on here for more specific advice.

Many thanks for any advice you can give.

Hello,

Sorry for the silence & thanks for the advice on engines on ebay!

I have been advised that the 'engine lost it's water' but that's about the extent of the information i've been able to get from the garage. So even as i'm typing i'm realising it's maybe worth getting a second opinion.

I know that's not a lot to go on but wondered if there is a refurbed engine from a legitimate source available, in general should this run ok if all fitted by an expert and well maintained etc?

I would still want the second opinion. Cos that really doesnt tell anybody much.
and if you want a recommendation, a location may help (just an area)
