New Landy, -- First of Many Questions

Great Forum--Hoping you can Help.

Just bought an 84 LR-90, 2.5 Petrol. A number of immediate issues.

When I use the indicators, both go on-- as if I hit the hazards.

Second--
Is there supposed to be a dash light? I can't see ****e on the panel when it gets dark.

Third--
The fella that owned it before me always put lead additive in when he refueled. Is this necessary? 84,000 miles are on it.

Fourth--
Rear mud-flaps. Right side has one, left side doesn't (where the exhaust is). Should there be one there? (Would expect so) Is it worth getting another or should I just take off the right side one? (Might look cool if both were gone.)

Fifth--
When buying the Haynes manual. Do I just buy the LR Petrol-- Series I, II, III? Have not seen a Defender petrol one for sale. Haven't looked real hard yet, but thought I'd ask. That's it for now. Really appreciate your sage counsel. Hope you don't mind but I'll probably have many more in the ensuing weeks.

1st and 2nd... you look like you got a wiring problem or a dogey switch
3rd dunno but i wouldn't have thought so
4th it should have one both sides so either buy another set and have a spare or take that one off and just have the spare
5th you need one for the defender as its different to the series in some critital areas..

Far be it from me to disagree with you Marcus, but thats the diesel manual and it says on the back "Does NOT cover petrol engine models". I've just bought one from Halfords £15.99.

Ooops, that'll teach me to read posts properly & not post when I've started on ther Xmas voddie! Well spotted Grunt.

I kept trying Halfords when I was looking for (the diesel) manual & they never had one in stock. Did get mine on ebay in the end for about the same price, which at least kept me from having to return to Halfords too often, I always come out with stuff I never went in for! A fire extinguisher & a jerry can last time & I only went in for a side light bulb!
