Hello everyone,
This is my first post and I want to say that it makes me more than happy to join your forums knowing that we had a freelander for more than 17 years. Today I need your help and I apologize for the length of the thread, but it's very important to me.
I will try to be as brief as possible, 4 years ago our freelander had a problem on road, for a moment it began to accelerate alone (in neutral) and white smoke has invaded inside, as outside. It came out of all the issue of the car (exhaust, engine, etc. ..). It was shocking to see the car in that state and I did not expect to see it again someday, but a week later it was already in our garage.

Once back, I tested the car and it was awful. First remark after starting engineI realize that the sound of the car has changed, it became more acute. Once on the road here is what I found, hoping that some will understand the problem:

1) The engine speed has dropped a lot. Looks like the car has no turbo apart from the sound. I would say 30-40 hp constant max, with a non-existent boost ...
2) the RPMs are increasing very fast now, which forces me to shift gears quickly
3) The car consumes a lot
4) I can not exceed 100 km / h knowing that the car is in fifth gear and that the RPM's are at 3500

It's been 3 years that I drive the car in this state, lack of means but I've been trying to revive it recently.

So all this time I suspected the turbo, knowing that it was replaced after the big failure, but after installing a new one (PMF100500), cleaned the catalyseur and the exhaust I noticed a gain from 5 to 10 hp but no change level boost after 2500 rpm and rpm are still increasing as fast ... My mechanic replaced the solenoid valve and repaired the piece that is next to it (whose name I do not know) which was broken (yes the main pipe was broken) but it did not change either. He told me that he suspects the air flow meter but after my research, if the air flow meter had a fault the fact of unplugging it will increase the performance of the car, but for my case even when unplugging it there is no change, so I'm not sure if it's the air flow meter or something related to injection.

I call you to the rescue

Sounds like the turbo seal failed initially, which caused the engine to consume it's oil. If the engine stopped on its own, then the oil it was running on ran out. This will lead to serious engine damage, which is I suspect the root of your current problems.
