Does anyone know if there is a way of looking up engine numbers for a 2005 L322 3.0 diesel? Ours is 202261110 and I cannot seem to find a way to look it up. Any help greatly appreciated, I especially want to know if it is still the original lump because it has done over 195,000 miles now. It was exported to Australia when new so I don't know if the aerial numbers for exports were different from those in the UK, it's the same BMW engine as the UK ones.

can't help with location of engine numbers on any paperwork, may have something on V5 form, seem to recall it may have engine number on it, that may be the same as the engine fitted, as any cars iv had dealings with where they have had replacement engine a lot never declare it so any paperwork still shows old engine number.
Regarding original engine if its been serviced it should be the original, the BMW M57 is capable of big miles if serviced, they can go on and on with just the odd failure of turbos or injector (same as all common rail diesels) and on BMW saloons swirl flaps caused a issue with early ones, but this did get sorted and many owners removed them anyway but X5's and Rangies never had swirl flaps fitted.
