Hi. Im looking to buy a freelander. It will only be used from October to April and will not cover more than around 5k miles a year. My budget is around £5-£6k. I want a diesel. Whats best? Automatic, manual? Is anything thats done over 100k miles a real problem? What should I look for as common faults etc? Hope you can help! Thanks. Paul

Hi and welcome

If you're spending that amount you should be able to buy a sub-100k miler. Diesels are the preferred choice (as is mine), but ask questions when you go to look at them. Reading through this forum, you will pick up plenty of tips and advice. Read the 'what to look for' post, this covers just about everything

Good luck

td4 automatic had one about 7 yrs now and has bin good only widows motors and small problems no more than any other car

Auto is heavier on fuel but better off road than the manual. Depends how lazy you are, lol, and if you do much off roading and town driving. I prefer manual myself but their are times when you wish I was a manual. Not many though.
