Looking for comments on choice of car.

Hi all

I am looking into purchasing either a Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail or Hyundai
Santa Fe. I was wondering what this group thinks of the relative pros and
cons of the various cars.

I am looking for a car to carry two adults, three children and the
associated camping gear with a bit more power than my current car, a Ford
Escort 'M' reg 1300, which struggles slightly when fully loaded!!

Looking forward to any comments.

Probably better then asking in here, anymoment now their will be loads of replys
with just the word "Land Cruser" probably added to the top :-(

Of the three, IMHO, the Honda is run of the mill, but a good car, the Nissan
is probably the best built, whereas the Hyundai is probably the worst and
will certainly devalue the quickest.

I'd buy the Nissan. If they are still built as they have always been, then
it will last forever. They are Japanese Volkswagens.

I doubt if any of those vehicles would carry a family of five
and all their camping gear - unless you camp *very* light,
or resort to a trailer or roof box.

What sort of size vehicle do you think would be more ideal for the required
use ?

Has the OP looked at Subaru Foresters, 110's or Grand Vitarta, you could go for
a Cherokee but I suspect you want to come back from your camping trips under

Well...I've given up trying to convert people to the virtues of Yank
Tanks...one metion at the size of the engine and they just think about
fuel cost...

I'm selling the Blazer soon anyway and looking out for a Chevy
Suburban...the LWB version of the Blazer...the Blazers a bit small for
my purposes ;-) Let me know if you here of an 80's diesel Sub...
