Hi there.

I was trying to fit my roof bars to my 2005 Freelander mk1. I removed the blanking plates at the rear of the car and the nut, that holds the 2 bolts has come from its housing and has fallen into the bodywork probably never to be seen again.

It is the nut that these two bolts in the pic above screw into, but I can't seem to find the part and LR have given me part codes for everything but the part I need.

Any help is much appreciated.

Nuts normally fall done into bumper well. Can usually be reached by removing light cluster and having a grope ( don't tell the wife). Sometimes it is useful to ask for the assistance of someone with small hands. Otherwise get a nut that fits the bolt and weld to a plate.

Or fit a couple of captive nuts

Yeah, I had a look around in the bumper well. There is a small triangle cut out that I think the nut has gone into and it is inaccessible.

Tried the retaining nut, but the threads were different and the way that the panel is made means it is hard to get a spanner in to the top nut if I went down that route :(

Have you not got a magnetic screw driver or something you can poke into that hole and retrieve the nut.
And nice to see mhm on here again

Yeah, I have taken the light cluster off and used a magnetic tool to try and find the part. Also took pictures inside the well to see if I can spot it but to no avail.

It looks like the triangle cut out falls deep within the car and even with the magnetic tool, I can't seem to find it.

It is a plate with 2 threaded holes that the bolts go into, but can't seem to find it listed anywhere
