As I said - cover your arse - take pics - independant assessor, if they start mucking you about. get the previous report and trading standards.
It will be someone else next time if you dont.

that isnt a genuine landrover part - if these guys screwed you, would you want them taking short cuts?
I agree it's not original. But it's the best you'll get if you need a boot. It's an alternative working part. Not a short cut.

I would be surprised if the garage took on any level of responsibility. I feel sorry for the OP with the problem. I've been there before with the squeal problem. Fighting for what's right is an uphill struggle. An inspector will list the faults, but it probably won't prove the garage caused the faults, or if they were there prior to them working on the vehicle. I know this will upset peeps but the reality of my situation forced me to give in. I couldn't provide proof the garage or recon auto was at fault. My 2p for what it's worth. I wish the OP best of luck in getting his Freelander sorted.

well, its finally been sorted :dance:the garage has fitted a new front prop(original lr part) this weekend and the car is running fine:)thanks guys for all your helpful advice:Dwhat a fantastic forum

It's good to see it's sorted. I have to admit I'm surprised they sorted it without excuses of it not being their fault. Stick around and we'll help ya keep yer Freelander on the road.

hippo, they did try it on,but with the info ive picked up from this forum i was armed with the knowledge to brush their spiel off:cool:the guy tried to get the damaged prop re-coned, however decided to get a new prop after(in his words)was a waste of time and money,as they had only replaced the gaiter.how do i post a photo?

Good advise that from Help I Permanently Piss On-myself. Helping to keep your Freelander on the road is the busiest forum here and is full of highly experienced owners (as they are they are always breaking down... )
