Hi,

I got a leak around the coolant expansion tank and this is the new modified coolant expansion tank bottle. i see some hair lines cracks.
do i need to change the bottle again?
should i be worried of having faulty piston? coz it seems the leaks may because of the over presurised cause by faulty piston damaged when i had blown head gaskets (i read on other freelander forum). i had the head gasket and thermistor changed and since then im still having coolant lost problem and there is no leak but around the expansion tank cap. anyone has other clue whats goin on here?

are you sure the expansion tank cap is working? if its a pressurised system like on the range rover, it could be the source of your problems. if one of the rubber seals has split, when the coolant is under pressure, it could be leaking through it. its about £5 from LR for a new one.

Well I think it is still working now otherwise the bottle will continualy be filled by coolant and leaks on the cap coz the coolant pump will keep pumping the coolant back to the bottle.
