Hi all, I'm a new member and I've recently purchased a 2001 Series 2 V8 Disco!

Looking to take it off roading once this lockdown has passed! Just looking for the common faults and problems people have with the Disco 2 and the V8 especially. (And it's Auto!) I am going to be putting a 2" lift kit with 16" steel modular on the truck, get shot of the front and rear bumpers and replace with steel ones with a winch on the front. I've heard loads of different opinions and seen lots of different forums, but some are for td5 and not v8... it would just be nice to see V8 specific posts in once place! So if you have a V8 and off road it... let me know what you've done and problems you've encountered so I can try to avoid as many problems before they arise! I'm from Cornwall so will be mostly doing local green lanes while I first start out and then will make the move to pay and play days! Thankyou all very much for the time to read and hopefully reply to this, really appreciate it!

Welcome. My D2 V8 Auto( not sure why you putting ! after yours) is long gone , but still miss her. It had the same, common, fault as previous version, rust, rust, and more rust. Other than that she was a good, solid, easy to work on , little beastie.
As above, head to the Disco section. White suit and medallion are optional.

Thanks all, I appreciate it. I've just got the Steel winch bumper to be added probably tomorrow. I am then going underneath to completely de-rust at much as I can back to bare metal, get someone else to do all the bits that need welding (I'm not a confident welder by any means). Hammerite paint the underside and then underseal over that. Then on with the other modifications as and when I can afford them. Cheers to all for the replies.
