Like all Freelanders I had the issue with slow moving off from stationary.

I did the egr mod and the BMW filter thingy mod and it was like a normal car moving off from stationary.

Over the last week, it has reverted to slow acceleration on move off. It has plenty of power when on the move and can easily reach normal speeds and accelerate up hills.

So, I suppose the question is can egr mods eventually fail? I am sure the blanked egr I purchased was a decent one.

If this is not my issue, what could it be.
No smoke at any time as far as I can tell, just the slow moving off from stationary.
I have put some injector cleaner in the tank, but after half a tank there is no improvement.

FL1 TD4 2006. Done about 66K miles.

The EGR blank is a blank. So once it's fitted, it can't loose effectiveness.

The MAF can age and cause sluggish low RPM performance.

Weirdly, whilst driving to work tonight, it was better. Mostly like it's old self with occasional lack of acceleration from stationary.
I will check as suggested when I have a few days off after my block of night shifts.

I wasn't aware sluggish move off from stationary was a common fault.
Is that another issue to add to the list of TD4 issues

More application of the right foot perhaps?
In all seriousness, I did wonder the same thing about my Disco when I got it, and it turned out that I wasn't pressing the loud pedal enough. Silly I know, but once I'd figured it out, it jumps off stop signs now like a scolded cat.

Yes, our Td4 has started doing the same. I know it's not driver error (as I initially suggested to the wife ) as we had a had a previoud Td4 to compare it to. This one would pull away from junctions easily. The new one will sometimes hiccup as you pull out, nearly (and sometimes actually) stalling.

It's a bit like when you hire a modern piddly petrol car, which needs a good rev to pull it away, and you haven't got used to it yet. (Also fun is getting used to the razor-sharp brakes, not being able to hear the engine, putting up with the bloody thing cutting out at traffic lights and beeping at you all the time. It makes you appreciate your Land Rovers, I can tell you.)

Because there's also intermittent long cranking starts I suspect either fuel pump or MAF.

had similar issue recently ..

in short .. turned out to be the MAF sensor

said issue felt like a petrol carb. motor
when the accelerator jets be giving the wrong amount of fuel
( except that once the intake-air got moving
( there were no more acceleration issues

knew things were getting bad when it did it
just after hitting 4th gear ..
had never done that before ..

at first .. changed air filter and turbo sol. filter ..
on to main road (flat) .. into 2nd and no-response for about 3 secs !
got it behave for next 40 mile .. but issue obviously still there ..

ok .. figured contaminated MAF ..
or small vacuum leak re. the turbo solenoid

changed MAF this morn.
checked vacuum hoses .. they looked ok ..

the replacement MAF be an old one with a fair few miles on it
but known to be working fine

the replaced unit were one that had been used
with an oiled foam type filter ..
the sensor had been cleaned after i went back to a paper a.filter
and worked fine until about 10 days back

anyhow .. hippo back to normal now ..
but .. it seemed to take driving a while ( 20 mile )
then shutting off the motor for 15/30 min ..
before the go-pedal response was as it should be
some .. ecu calculation / resetting .. going on there maybe ?
