Hi,
I have been prompted to introduce myself as a new person to the forum.
I have a 1964 109in Sa2 ex-Fitted For Radio army beast (no longer original, e.g. S3 bulkhead which I will replace with a S2a again some day) which I have had about 15 years. I rebuilt most of it , however, the bulkhead was "crashed" damaged - off an ex-Royal Ulster Constabulary vehicle - an big, controlled force was needed to get the panels on and my natural style is much more big, clumsy force so obviously I got the engine reconditioned professionally (I'm an erratic speller by the way). Currently, the gearbox is out and the DIY rebuild kit from LEGS is waiting to be opened - not done a gearbox before...bit scarry really. Last weekend I put on Safari roof which I got off e-Bay for £20.
I also have one of the last FFR 24 volt Lightweights in very original condition. This is lovely Landy which I hardly know yet but already feel very strongly about. It's great to have two of these great vehicles and love both of them for different reasons.
The question is which one will I take on my trip to Senegal the Christmas after next and which will I take on my Cape Town trip in about 5 years time? Probably both, the Lightweight to Senegal and the 109 to Cape Town.
Next big moment coming soon is the Perkins Prima transplant I want to do.
I have many reasons for wanting to join the forum, one of which is I am incredibly lazy and will always try to find someone who knows rather than finding out myself. Hopefully, I can contribute, too..........I wondered if anyone knew where/if Salisbury diffs can be re-conditioned? Also, does anyone know of anyone who would do a good job of a Perkins Prima transplant but would not charge me £45 per hour? I live near Oxford/Banbury/Bicester but wouldn't mind travelling for an excellent job.
Blimey, this has been a lengthy introduction! I'd better shut up.
