Hello,

Just introducing myself I am age 22 and i live in rural north Yorkshire.

Bought an old 91 90 200tdi defender after my old vehicle was written off - dads always had series landys so i know my way around them ( Read child hood of bleeding brakes and clutches )

Looking for guidance and help on my project as I'm told I'm "on my own with it".

I am very practical, can weld and grind and hit things with a hammer which as far as I am concerned is efficient land rover working practice. Up against it to get my beloved mistake through its MOT ( History shows years of neglect, confirmed by poor condition ) - Don't expect to see any rivet counting here.

Three weeks of work into it already - about twice as long and thrice the cost as expected but hey ho.

Majority of the work done now but little bits left to do, its been quite a big project so the little bits are still fairly major. Expect to see posts asking for help!

Thanks all

James.

Welcome to the looneyzone,

Just one thing.....Piccies, we like piccies...... LOL..

Cheers

Will get some pictures up in due course. she's not a bad looking beastie just want to get everything "solid" on it first. Annoyingly dads Series 1 has a better chassis than mine.

Done a lot to it in the few months of ownership so far.. in true style its been off the road ( to be worked on ) more than its been on. A real off road machine!!

Done so far :

New passenger side outrigger - a butterfly flew into it and the old one disintegrated.
New seats inside ( recovered the originals )
New drivers side door pillar ( the seller had repaired it with duct tape for the photos )
New door bottoms. Repairs to the doors ( when i bought it you could unlock it by just bending the door in half as the frame had rotted through )
New lights throughout - LED's - originals were rhubarb and rusted through
Bulk head repairs all around the passenger side vent, drivers side just around the edge of the vent.
New drivers footwell.
New bottom door seals ( to hold the water in )
Soundproofed throughout ( about 50% complete so far )
New exhaust center section.
replaced rear door ( old one was battered )
New starter motor.
Mud dash put in.

To be done:

rear cross member to be replaced hopefully this weekend
wiper fault to sort out.
Clutch to bleed ( and then find out why it presumably still doesnt work )
brake discs and pads to sort on the front
Wheel bearings replace throughout.
Try the slick shift thingy for the gears. ( seems pointless till i have a clutch again! ) - think i just knocked something when i replaced the drivers footwell!
Finish soundproofing and cover with carpet.
Paint rear door to match the rest.
New number plates going on as the old one are tired.
Chase various rattles and leaks.
under seal next summer
Tint side windows to reduce glare.
Heated seats and dash switches to go in - want an extra reverse light/ work light/ my old halogen spots look silly next to new LED lights everywhere else.
Lots to go at!
Might even put electric windows in.... haven't decided.

Pictures to follow.
