Insurance renewal - what adds cost to the premium

I am just about to reinsure my defender and wondered what kind of things will increase the premium. I want to include everything I intend to do this year but don't want to include premium increasing items if its going to greatly increase the premium.
I don't do a lot of miles but do intend to use it for access across moorland etc so am considering steering guard and diff guards etc. These are not currently fitted but may well be before the end of the next policy.

So, which of these things are likely to increase the premium or have the insurance company in a cold sweat?

Already included;
Alloy wheels
Standard engine replacement (300tdi fitted)
Side steps - though these will be changed to rock sliders

Looking to include in next years policy
Removable steering wheel
LED Headlights
Wheel spacers
Steering guard
Diff guards
Roof rack/bars
Rear light
Spare wheel carrier
Rear bumperettes

Declare it all, cos they will find a way out if you need to claim. If they um and arrrr try somebody else.

Dont see any of those upping a premium TBH. mostly cosmetic + protection.
Not sure about the spacers though, not a fan.

Nothing unusual about them liking memebers of clubs. This happens a lot with kit cars and it can reduce the premium by 10%.
It basically, they think, implies you take a pride in your vehicle and will treat it with care, won't drive it into a tree and not let it get knicked!

+ 1 Deviation from factory spec, could effect handling.

I can understand that but up to that conversation, telling them you are a member of various forums has been sufficient. I have looked online for clubs - the series 3 club seems to now include the 90 and 110, but the web site does not really include a lot so its not easy to assess what you get for your £25 or £35 membership (though I think the £35 version is because they send their newsletters etc by post so can understand the addition for paper and postage). I thought something like that would have lots of details about events and possibly online articles, but it seems like the land rover forums offer you more and they are free or via donation etc. I am sure members of that club could shed more light one what the club gets up to.

Just tried A-Plan but they will ring me back tomorrow. Apparently they have a modified vehicles section at Thatcham and this will be passed to them.

I have another couple to try tomorrow so will see how I go on with them.

To be honest I have never fitted spacers before as the only reason I want them fitted is so that I can put the centre caps on the alloy wheels as this is a 10 spline with the wider drive flanges - though I do like the sound of the tighter turning circle!

Happy to look into a quotation for you if you haven't tried us already.

What size spacers are you considering? Spacers and offroading doesnt seem like good combination to me.

Why is insurance so high in the UK I keep one vehicle in the UK probably does 1500 miles a year it costs as much to insure as three vehicles in Spain
As its in the center of the emissions zone it has to go but I'm loathe to replace it with a battery car

Is Spain like Portugal it's the car thats insured not the driver so anyone can drive it with owners permission...

Postcode, age of driver, value of car, where car is kept when not in use.

There are plenty of ic engined cars that are ulez free, the trouble is they tend to be small and underpowered. My skoda fabia escapes congestion charges and is dirt cheap to insure, less than £100. If its a car thats rarely used, you dont need anything flash

How much power do you need to sit in a queue? Surely you aren't going to take it outside of the ULEZ are you? There's nothing out there to see, stay inside the nice smoggy circle and if you do go outside doooooon't look at the prices or pretty scenery!

I live just far enough outside of that dump to hate it!

I made the comment about ulez free cars being small and underpowered because I have a feeling Freddie would only like to be seen in a gas guzzler.
