Morning all,

Just wondering what the procedure is for replacing a cracked coolant reservoir on a 2003 1.8 petrol Freelander? And how easy is it, i.e. do I need to get a garage to do it?

Also, should I be worried that the bottle is cracked; is it likely to be symptomatic of other problems?

Thanks!

get it changed, 1.8 petrol:eek: it doesnt need any more reasons to go bang, as for ease, well a fellow gaylanderer will be along soon to tell if its easy or not.

GET IT CHANGED!!

MHM,

Thanks for the encouragment, and advice re: low level sensor.

Any guidance on how to actually drain the reservoir and disconnect/reconnect the various hoses? And anything else to look out for?

Unfortunately I don't have the ability to download the RAVE CDs as the permissions are set pretty high on this computer (its a work one).

Does anyone happen to be able to find the relevant info in RAVE and then post to this thread? Appreciate it's a big favour to ask of someone but it's the only way I'll ever get access.

Thanks!

tis simple.
check all the fixings etc are free to undo remove.

undo all the fixing bolts first, don't worry about draining down as the header is the highest point of the system anyway, just don't let either of the hoses drop.

undo the hoses and transfer to the new tank, have something handy to use as a bung. bung up the hole on the old tank when you take the hose off, then fix the new tank in place. tip the remainder of the coolant into the new tank, top up as necessary, job done.
