hi all, 1st off great site !

i have just been given a series 2 with a 3.5lt v8 (very nice) and a mate of mine has asked if i want to take it off road on the weekend. trouble is i cant seem to get it into 4 wheel drive, i dont know if its something im doing wrong or something wrong with the box. are there any special ways of doing it (and am i being silly) or will it be a problem with the box ??

thanks for any help with this as i dont no much about 4x4s.

If still fitted with original gear and transfer box to engage 4 wheel drive in high gears press down yellow knob,to release pull red knob back into low gear and forward into high.4wheel drive is always engaged in low box.

ok, after a look at things today, it seems the landy is in 4 wheel drive, and we cant get it into 2 wheel drive. we took the yellow knob off the pin and it is free moving up and down, feels like it is not conected to anything. is this normal ? ?

there are 3 x shaft poking through out put housing 1st has red knob operating it centre one which has hole in it which yellow knob lever puts pin in and out of hole to hold or release shaft ,and 3rd shaft that has dog clutch to connect front shaft to box to give 4wd this shaft is operated by red high/low lever thru pivot of centre shaft ,pin of yellow lever needs to be fully engaged in hole in centre shaft for box to be out of 4wd ,jiggling of levers may be necessary to achieve this and so might taking tin cover off to free off 3rd shaft as it may be seized in housing
