Well very frustrating. Fitted new fuel pump after suffering from no fuel at filter. No difference.
Checked pipework at tank sender end all good.
Removed separator bowl found some sludge but nothing serious but fuel now pumping all ok for a 5mile test run. Did a few other little jobs and still running well. Stopped to buy a celebratory cake and it's definitely holding back . Still running but not right.
Any ideas

Righto.
Well it could possibly have some air in it, so like an airlock, but My D1 300 tdi is manual so i am no expert, I don't even know if yours has a lift pump like mine has.
i think @discool may be your man here.;)
Yes same lift pump filter and sedimeter. I suspect air leak at sediment trap . Will get it over a pit today and potentially bypass the sediment trap until I can get a new unit

I take it you did bleed it at the filter and water separator under the bonnet? Instructions in the Haynes manual as far as I remember.
I had to replace the fuel pump twice as the first time I managed to get the lever the wrong side of the cam.:rolleyes::mad:

Stripped the separator again and still had air. Stripped cleaned and refitted th tank connections and bing no air. Car running much smoother than it ever has and flat out up long hill no stutter. Hopefully that's it
