hi all,

when i got my freelander td4 2003 model the guy gave me a set of fog lamps - landrover part number stc 50469. these include all the wiring and instructions etc.

he said he had bought these but never fitted them as they require removal of the bumper.

looking around i believe these only fit the 1.8 petrol and i guess this is due to the wiring.

anyone fitted a set ofd these to a td4 - what bull bar can i get to fit -

suppliers / makes anyone.

cheers all

hello

thanks for replying, can i check if it has the fuel heater without removing the bumper? where is it fitted.
is that why some A bars wont fit?

cheers

If you remove the bumper, then there are some oval shapes moulded onto the rear of the bumper. These are to be used as templates for the small amount of cutting that is required.

Its a straight forward job.

Steve

hi all

cant see a pipe on the nearside.
my is an es model and comparing the instructions included in the kit it looks like the wiring is already in place for the lamps.

so i installed the switch in the dash by the clocks and put a fuse in the correct slot but there is no power at the spot lamp wires under the bonnet.

anyone got any ideas.

Yup, when I fitted em to mine a couple of years ago, there were 2 relays supplied in the kit and a mounting bracket for them which mounted between the bettery and the fuse box (that was on a KV6).

Dunt it need a relay ?
hello

the kit the chap gave me included a wiring loom and instructions,

when i compare the instructions to my cars wiring i can see a relay the same as the one in the kit already fitted in the space as shown in the instructions.

going to take the bumper off at the weekend and connect the lamps and see what happens.

There are a lot of relays for additional accessories - perhaps one has been fitted where the foglight relay and housing should clip to??

On mine I have fog light relay, 2x pod light relays, 2x split charge / caravan relays and a voltage sensitive switch.

Hope you get it sorted.

Regards,

Steve

hi steve - the wiring loom supplied with thelamps contains a relay and switch connector - these items are already on the car and i ave traced the wiring from the switch to the relay on the fuse board on the drivers side, have also put a fuse in fuse 21.

did you wire your own tow electrics - my old freelander had a factor fitted towbar so that when towing and i used the indicators the trailer flasher would flash on the dash - does yours do that.

i have bought a swan neck detachable witter bar and electrics but havent had time to fit it yet.

cheers for the help and advice

Mine is a genuine LR item and the trailer electrics were terminated with a white plug. This simply plugs into the RH rear quarter. I also replaced the flasher unit and all works fine (ie the trailer light illuminates when signalling)

They are not expensive - (£30 IIRC) - see if your kit has the white plug fitted.

I am also in the process of fitting new front fogs to my Freelander 2003 1.8.(just waiting for my new lamps to be sent) Where should the relay be fitted? or is it already fitted but where, I can hear the rear fog light relay making when i make the switch but for the life of me i don't know where it is. I already have wiring in place for the front fogs as i have removed the front fog blanking switch and can see the wiring ready for the new switch. Any help would most appreciated.

Hi Mick,

The relay lives under the bonnet near to or behind the near side headlamp. Mine was already fitted with front fogs. If you have the wiring test for power at the lamp ends with a multimeter when headlights are on and fog lamp switch pressed.

Steve

Many thanks Steve, I will have a look. I have already traced the blanking off connector (nearside lamp) and proved continuity from there to the fuse block (in main fuse panel drivers side). Like you said, i need to get the new switch fitted and prove power is present and that should be ok. Wish me luck. Once again Steve, thanks for your prompt reply, I only joined the site yesterday, it is a Godsend, helped me out with so much info.

Kind Regards

Mick
