Hi please has anyone had this issue ? Engine TD4 starts ok but during the first minute or so the idling is rough and if I drive off there are some coughs and splutters after a minute or so it clears and drives perfectly normal. It happens if the engine is hot or cold and no warning lights. Thank you

For spluttering on these engines, the first thing to replace is the crank speed sensor, which is known to give this sort of issue. If that doesn't fix it, then you're into checking the throttle body, boost pipes and injectors.
You don't say what the mileage is?

It could be injector related. They seem to become less reliable after 100k or so, so it could well that one on the way out.
Definitely change the crank speed sensor first though, as those are a known cause of misfiring.

I have made 6 trips in it today and the fault has not reoccured at all, I will be ordering a new crank speed sensor once I have confirmed which one is fitted. thank you again.

Get a genuine or premium brand sensor. Don't be tempted by cheap eBay sensors, as they either don't work out the box, or fail in a short time. Often the pins are too thin, so don't make firm contact with the plug, which causes misfiring or complete failure of the sensor.
There are a couple of designs, being an early and later sensor, the later type was introduced around 2009. My 58 plate has the later sensor fitted.

Thanks Nodge68, no problems again today, I usually get stuff from Euro car parts have you had bits from them?
