Hi,

My mrs has an 02 plate freelander td4.

We've not long had a new VCU (with new bearings)fitted as the old one was shafted.

The problem we're having is, above 50mph the car has quite a vibration.

Anything below this and the car is smooth and comfortable.

I think it's a prop bearing but I was just wondering if anyone else had, had a similar problem?

Thanks in advance :D

have you checked the new bearing are centre and what modle is your car if you vcu had gone maybe somthing alse as well is on the way out

I'd also check your tyres regarding the state of the tread blocks. The old VCU may have caused the transmission to lock sufficiently that the rear tyres have started to castellate on (probably) the outer bit of the tread. Run your hand over each tyre to confirm this.

If this IS the case then the only cure is new tyres. In addition to sorting out what has caused the problem if it's not the old VCU.

Hadn't thought of this, I'll have a look when I get home!
