Pixels are missing from the display

I have read the thread relating to repair of these clocks but mine has the ribbon cable firmly attatched to the LCD panel and the PCB. On the PCB end it appears to have two tiny rivets at each side holding the cable to the PCB.

Is mine a later throw away model or am I confused ?

Onyone repairing these?

Any help would be appreciated

Fred

I didn't bother fixing mine. Instead I got one of these from ebay and fitted it in place. The photo is rubbish and doesn't show it properly but there is also an external temperature display the works via a wired external sensor.

Do you have a link for the shop you got that from??? I soooo miss the external temp gauge.

There you go

The power socket supplied provides the power for the back light and you need to cut the plug off the end of this and wire it directly to the circuit board to get room in the aperture on the dash.

Mine is currently routed out through the drives door and into the base of the front wing but I am going to extend it to the base of the front bumper/spoiler to stop it picking up engine heat.

Thanks for the link Mantamad

Do you have an aftermarket radio with its own display as my wifes R770 should display on the clock as well?

But its a great idea though and a fraction of the price quoted by LR Currently £129 plus 20% vat.
Shame you cant buy one with over temp warning as well or can you?

I did see this one on ebay as well but don't know if it has any additional features, looks like it would fit though.

Yes I do have an aftermarket radio so didn't use the display for that - I have a bluetooth unit to stream music from my phone :)

What would we do without eBay?

Thanks for the info it fails again I will give it a go

Superb service very helpful even to say am I certain I need the radio display as they have one without for £13 cheaper if I only need the clock.

Ordered about 2pm and the parcel arrived next day very well packed with a 30 warranty.

I cant say fairer than that
