Fairey overdrive wont Bolt down

I'm concerned about the splines on the input shaft being worn don't want to refit it if it's going to break still got the sump plug to do as well.

You are looking at £200-£250 to get it into decent condition, but the prices are getting silly on the complete units:

I had this issue and it had me stumped for a while. It was just a tiny bit bigger, but enough for it not to all go back into place

Gonna have another go at fitting it when some parts arive got some of that rocol stuff for the splines I noticed when I took the washer off the plug which is actually a9/16 unf Bolt cut down it screws in so il make another longer one and a new sealing washer. Still looking for a gear and cover though for emergencies.
