Evoque groaning noise

Hi all,

I have a RR Evoque 2.0l diesel, dynamic HSE which is an auto. That car is a 2017/2018 and has done about 43,000 miles. Had the car for two years.

Car has been faultless until January. It went for service and MOT and had new discs and pads all round.

Since then I have had brake squeal when coming to a stop, they were bedded in correctly. That’s one issue.

Second issue is that when reversing on full left lock there is a load groan that comes from the rear passenger side wheel. If the brakes are jabbed when making this noise it appears to stop it.

car has been back to the same garage several times. They assure me they have cleaned the brakes and callipers several times, changed the rear pads and then chamfered them as well but still no joy.

i can only assume this has to do with the replacement brake discs or pads as I never had any of these issues before they were swapped over? I dread reversing in full lock, sound horrendous.

Managed to record the noise but for some reason it won’t upload from my phone?

Presuming the handbrake linings are inside the rear discs, then I suggest there is either a spring/retainer missing, or it has been assembled incorrectly..

Are the garage experienced in ejokes ?

Unfortunately I have little experience in mechanics, can change bits here and there. The garage we have used for over a decade, always been spot on. They are not a LR specialist though.

Yea it does, however I never use it, just put it in park.

If the garage have touched the EPB brake shoes, I believe it needs setting up with diagnostics so it could be that.

I thought the Ejoke groaning came from the people inside ? Certainly not an RR.

Or from the man who had to borrow it, as they had sent the wrong part for his RR that, he would have been driving otherwise.

The parking brake is applied automatically when you select park.

Sounds like your garage hasn't installed the parking brake pads correctly, possibly not using the correct diagnostic device to retract the pistons, which is important.
Unfortunately these modern vehicles need to use specialist equipment to do simple things like changing parking brake pads

They may have a run in program like the disco but bearing in mind it shares a lot of parts with the freelander, the handbrake may need backing off.. Or..
