Door Seals

Need door seals, the old ones were riveted in but has anyone used these one piece ones before, I did fit them to a Dfender a few years ago and they were ok, but will they fit Series?

I'm also looking at seals Paddock sell it on a roll...a lot cheaper than the rivited ones...

What series model?
I think 3 onwards have a flat lip so the one piece will fit, earlier models had a 90 degree return so the seal will not slip over.
The seal on the roll mentioned by @Shippers above is what I used on my s2 over 10 years ago, stuck it on with evo stick from a tin.
I believe you can still get the riveted on type.

The bit on the lock side between the roof and tub has a small lip on it that will need grinding off. Other than that they are 100% better than the old type. You’ll be lucky to maintain a full seal all the way round but the original seals didn’t either.
My advice would be to get the pre made ones with the 90 degree corners already manufactured, fit those corners first then work your way round the frame. The bottoms will probably need trimming.
One of the issues is the wobbly door top. It’s ment to be fitted so it leans towards the cab slightly and as it closes it springs against the frame providing the seal. With a continuous rubber tube it will tend to seal at the bottom of the window but be held off at the top slightly. This will get better over time as the rubbers bed in a tad. The other problematic spot is the tight curve of the body near to the upper hinge. It can take a bit of fettling to minimise the rubber tube kinking.
All in all a good upgrade.

The other thing you might find which I had to do when I fitted the one piece defender seals to my series is I had to trim then around the windscreen bracket and door lock to get them to fit. I very carefully removed a little of the inner sealing lip but not right up to the seal itself. this way it fits around these parts without issue, but also still has a full sealing top surface. the only effect is that at those points it is not clamped on it the bodywork lip as tightly. once bedding it has not effect.

Think the genuine ones will be to much momey. Which ones did you get?

As I said on another thread recently asking about door seals I replaced the ones on the 110 with britpart ones from paddocks and used the old ones which were Probabaly genuine originals for the series. The too old to work on the 110 were still a significant upgrade for the series. But the britpart ones Have been fine on the defender.
