Disco 2 Disco wont Start

Afternoon All,
I have finally gotten round to my wife's Disco 2. Its an 03 with 165,000 on the clock. At the end of last year i had an issue where it was misfiring and cutting out. I eventually had injector seals and washers replaced along with injector wiring harness. It ran ok until one day as she was driving along approx 40 - mph the revs rose slightly and there was a huge cloud of white smoke came out. The wife pulled over and switched the engine off and it hasn't started since. It winds over until battery dies and if you try tow starting it the revs will only match the road speed of the towing vehicle and when you depress the clutch to change gear it cuts out. Also while being towed you have no throttle response what so ever.

Anyone with any ideas?

Seems like crank sensor failure but it would be good to plug in a compatible tester maybe there is some relevant fault code logged or eventhe ECU can be fubar

My father in law fitted a new one from paddocks but will check to make sure its fitted properly. there was an increase in oil level but no smell of diesel as before with the new injector seals and washers only being in for about 6 weeks.
