Diesel Spill Pipe T Piece

I have just changed the crankcase breather filter, when putting back together and going for a run I noticed diesel leaking out one of the 'T pieces' on the ruturn pipe so I took of the small metal clip to take the T piece back out I noticed the end of the T piece was broken of, part of it is in the injector top. I didnt pull hard to get the T piece out, it must of been a bit brittle.

Ordered a new one, fuel spill pipe, as you have to buy the whole pipe. Price is not too bad.

I'm just a little worried about the broken off piece, its visible inside the top of the injector, just wondered how I can get it out. Left it to my mechanic friend to do.

Just thought i'd mention this, if anyone else is wishing to change the breather and take off the two pipes.

Also worth a mention, when I drove it with this problem there was a bit of white smoke out of exhaust under hard acceleration. Would the diesel leak from the spill pipe cause this?
