More seriously, if anyone tempted to test fans, keep hands well out of engine bay - they is vicious!! had a Sierra 100 years ago with a viscous fan - what a good simple piece if kit that was!

Putting in the uprated HG and the rest of the bits to go with it and fit the PRT stat then keep an eye on the water level. This will be about good as you can do to prevent future HGF

Indeed and my plans to swop to a Disco have hit a slight hicup. Wifey says if I buy another LR it has to be a good un with warranty and a couple of years without big bills. My plan was to go fer a tidy enuf late 300tdi and hold the difference in cost (for a newer one) fer inevitable repairs - same difference in my book but more fun for me! Negotiations continue
