Hi.....New to here so plz bear with me

Clutch pedal decided to stay on the floor yesterday  and i thought it was a snapped clutch cable  . Ok so i found out they are hydraulic
Just wondered if this has been a common problem and if so what it's likely to be/what to check for etc.....also how easy it would be to repair it myself.
My Freelander is an S reg with 100k... its the 1.8 petrol one with the leather interior and 2 tone green/blue paint.....had head gasket done...new water pump...drives like a new un  ( or did ):(.

Many thanks in advance,

Mark

Yeah as Opti says.

check the slave bracket isnt rusted and snapped.
check the clutch arm isnt seized.

If they are both ok, prob hydraulics fault.

Take the air filter box off and follow the tubing from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder to see if it is leaking! If there is a problem at the clutch pedal, the pedal normally stays up due to the spring, but as mentioned above, if something has broken, it may be holding the pedal down.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the replies.

Just had a look and found the end of the slave cylinder has snapped off where it clips onto the ( rusted ) bracket.:(

I think its prob best if i replace the bracket too as its looking a bit tired ( like its owner :D )

Now i obviously need a new slave cylinder but do i have to buy the master as well, as the pipes that connect the two seem to be a sealed fitting?

Oh and one more thing :p any idea what i am expected to pay for the above items and where best to source em from?

Many thanks for the replies folks, :clap2:
