Clutch noise MK1 oil burner

My Hippo's clutch has started 'whining' when I reverse?
Almost sounds like the wheels are spinning on mud but it's on the dry?
Am I looking at a new clutch??
Done a little bit of towing of late so that won't help I'm sure.
Any way of confirming this before I book it in for surgery?

where did you have the vcu from

It's a bell engineering one.
Why is the VCU suspected when I ask about clutch noise???
