Hi all
I have a l322 2003 3.0 td6 with a clicking noise when braking or slowing down on the initial push on the brake pedal.
I thought it was the brakes checked this and it still happens, so I then turned to the prop shaft as it was on the left side and sounded from behind the passenger seat. I have stripped the prop tube out splines and coupling at front end Diff are fine, rubber doughnut is ok, the coupler that centres into the flange on the transfer box is a little worn but cannot find one on line if anyone has any suggestions, but when in park and I turn the transfer box flange left to right about a centimetre play it makes the sound, I imagine this is bad I am replacing the other parts for new just to eliminate for future.
Please can anyone tell me what this is and if its bad as I have only had my RR for 4 months and its been good a fantastic car/suv 4x4

Transfer box wear maybe?
Try disconnecting the both drive shaft ends at the transfer to eliminate them.
I don't know if there is a chain inside the L322 transfer?o_O

Hi Mark
I have removed front shaft and you can turn the flange left to right approx. 1 centimetre and you do get a clunk . do I need to remove rear shaft from the transfer end and do the same.
If its transfer wear do I need to get a new box? is there anywhere that reconditions them?
I don't know if there is either its 03 plate
Regards
Petebowling.

If you remove and check the rear as well, check both ends of each prop.
A little play in the power train is acceptable to an extent.
I would have it checked before paying for a recon unit!! Any l322 knowmores
