I don't like checker plate much, although mine has plenty of it added by the previous owner.
I do have a bit of an excuse though as its a Defender and not a Series.

Need to access the roof rack , saves carrying a pair of steps all the time, use the roof rack for a clay pigeon trap platform

Well, that is perfectly acceptable then, being a working truck.
Wonder what, percentage wise, the difference between a working Series truck and a leisure truck. Can't be that many proper working trucks now.
