given the queries re. vacuum hoses in the 'egr' thread ..
sounds like the brake servo has lost it's vacuum assistance somehow
maybe a particular vac.hose was blocked or disconnected .. that shouldn't have been ?

Hi after doing egr mod and cleaning manifold brake pedal seems to go hard any ideas of why

This is very strange as removing the EDR should not have affected the brake pedal feel. My brakes are the same as before.

If you have 'lost' the servo then braking would be hugely affected and you would have to press the pedal tremendously hard to stop. Very unsafe.

But you say it stops OK.

Did you perhaps remove or plug the wrong braided vacuum pipe?

S.

The pedal is normal for say two pushes then becomes hard going to have a better look today just to make sure not disturbed anything else

hi try the 4 mm tube that lies over the gearbox and rubs on it thus produceing a hole in the back of it. It happened to me follow the tube from the servo down to the pump and there is a tee piece it is that tube that comes of there and goes down to a conection next to the retard tube it is very difficult to see where it goes so be care full I took the air inlet system of to see it better and they sell the 4 mm tube on ebay
