So as is customary my turbo hose split and so i lost power above 2000 rpm.So i got some nice shiny silicone hoses to replace. Whilst replacing the offending pipe (the short one to the right of the temp? sensor) I noticed that the temp sensor ( or is it something else?) had one of the wires that had become disconnected from the plug. I suspect its been like this a long time (possibly before i brought it) and haven't noticed any obvious problems. Its snapped though where the wire meets the plug (female end) as per:

So i can try and bodge some wire around the plug (less than ideal) or buy a new plug but can I find one? or maybe try and solder but there's not much to solder to. Is the plug a standard size I can find online?

Secondly has anybody got any tips on removing the awkard jubilee clip on the left hand turbo hose.

Any help appreciated: I can post some picsif it helps when its daylight.
Matt

You can get the parts from BMW to repair that connector and pins

The part numbers are on a post on here somewhere

Or it's a junior power timer - can get the pins etc from eBay

I recognise that link to this picture, I also have the said lead in the shed somewhere drop me a line and we can sort you out, are you referring to the clip hidden in pic 2 below

You can repair the wire yourself if you don't want the hassle of buying another connector. There may be a cover over the pins - pry this out. Look carefully at the pins from the front - you should see they're retained by a small plastic clip. Push in a very small flat screwdriver (watchmaker type ideal) to release the clip and pull the pin out from the back.

You can then solder or crimp the wire back on the pin and re-insert it.

Oh, and I've just replaced that turbo hose on mine. It had a Jubilee with a 6mm head and I got a small spanner in there to turn it just a tiny bit at a time. After a bit you'll be able to rotate the whole thing round and get a proper socket or screwdriver on it.

Thank you all for the info and advice. I've chopped the plug off and am now trying to remove the pins.. I Might just buy a new one for the sake of 3 quid - see how it goes. I'll have a go at the awkward hose too when its day light and not raining and try some perserverence. Really appreciate the help, I'm expecting the freelander will be a racing car after i've replaced the hoses and this sensor is working...... Well we shall see. Thanks for the use of the photo arctic2.
