Right this is going to be a long one , but I am new to defenders and any sort of car maintenance, I also want to take this time to say every thumbs up or wave from disco and defender owners is a great thing and in person the community is brilliant.

I purchased the car/van last week it was running good with a few little issues such as overheating , Speedo cable broken easy fixes for me as this is my first project car, it has a 300tdi in.

When I got the car and started work I replaced the radiator, thermostat, oil filter and oil , while also doing a full back flush off the system this seemed to solve my over heating issue the gauge read high but the actual temperatures were reasonable at most seeing around 80-90c

Coming home last night doing about 45 mph the car made a bang and suddenly stopped working , this lead to a 12am tow truck call a 2 hour wait and a £103 0.5 mile Trip to my house.

I think I have identified the issue to a head gasket needing to be replaced I have noticed the glow plugs arnt wired up At all and never have been due to the good engine compression , there is no damage to the turbo and no play (this was the advice to check from the tow truck fella)

The exhaust started blowing out oil and what I assume is diesel just before the car cut out and if you attempt to turn the car over it pures out.

Sorry in advance for my bad English and grammar , English is my first language , I’m just not very good at it

Any advice would be helpful

Thank you in advance
