Having suffered the dreaded sagging front end, it was time to replace the front NS air spring. Cheapest replacement (my usual strategy ‍♂️) spring was £85.

the challenge was to remove the two large bolts securing the front suspension strut to the hub. My Rangie is 16 years old and they were rusted solid. Could get the 22mm nut to turn, but the bolt would not budge. Only way to move it was to heat with oxy acetylene (tried butane torch, but not hot enough and heat not focussed enough). Heated bolt till near red, doused in cold water, whacked with slogging hammer, got it done ! The rest was pretty straightforward.

note that with a bit of wrestling the air connection can be removed from the top of the strut without removing the wheel arch liner.

stripped off old air spring, installed new one and re-fitted strut.

new bolts fitted - £22, and then reassemble tie bar etc.

took me all weekend, but suspect could be done in one day next time
