Greetings Everyone,

I've been fortunate enough(!) to obtain an entry in the Plymouth/Banjul Challenge 2007, to those of you who may not be aware involves obtaining a vehicle for no more than £100 and spend a ceiling of £15 preparing said vehicle prior to driving to Gambia where all vehicles that reach the end are auctioned with the funds been donated to charity. The journey is nearly 4000 miles and does include plenty of off roading through Southern Morocco and Mauritania

So how come I'm on a Land Rover forum, well after some pleading I've convinced my MD that he should donate an old 110 soft top to the cause which he duly has(Hurrah!) and we're preparing the vehicle currently. My co-driver and I have already secured quite a bit of material from assorted sources(Britcar/Rovers North /Goodridge/Donaldson Filtration amongst others and are still working on others - definitely need better seats!) and we've obtained an XD9000i winch on which the motor is knackered and to be honest I was wondering if anyone had a motor available to suit that they might be willing to donate to the cause, I think the part number is 39972. We're also still seeking a pair of sand tracks if and anyone has a pair they might be in a position to donate to a charitable cause they will be gratefully received. We 're really trying to get the vehicle together for nothing(and it hasn't cost a bean yet), and any equipment we have to leave in the Gambia, such as tools/camping equipment/spares as well as collecting money for a couple of UK charities(please visit our website for more information).

Is there anyone out there who could help with either of the above issues, or even just general advise on what represents a 'must do' whilst on the way.Thanking you in advance for your assistance with regards to this matter.

Regards,

Dave Wells
