Ok on impulse I've just bought a 97 110 based camper with a 300tdi engine.
brought it home yesterday and squeezeed it into the yard....there's not much steering lock is there.
so the stubby little transfer lever doesn't seem to do anything. It will move sideways in neutral but there's no forward and backward movement.

as it cruised at an easy 60 mph and all five gears work I dunno what this means. Have I got a rwo wheel drive landy?
is it somehow locked in high ratio diff lock disengaged.

maybe the linkage is broken or jammed?

have I bought a dog?

oh and the driver's door doesn't lock and it has a flaccid nearside mirror.

also included in the sale is the rear tub...is this worth the 200 mile round trip and van hire to pick it up?

guidance please

How about a pic ? Re rear tub , depends on what you intend doing with the tub , they go for not much to 4 or 5 hundred . Depending on condition ! As to it being or not being a dog , a couple of small things are not going to decide that ! HTSH

Engine starts first spin and runs smooth and quiet. Gearbox changes smoothly. Brakes a bit wooden but getting better with use (new calipers all round)
the rear window of the cab is missing....no big problem but it's a bit draughty. For the time being I'll bond some perspex over the hole.
it's only done 110000 miles and only done 1000 in the last four years.
camper body is a bit shabby but will clean up ok.
I'm sure it's not a dog, just very different to the freelander I used to have and the dacia duster I currently have.
for its intended use, wild camping in scotland, it's fit for purpose. Better than an lt25vw any day.

I'll post some pictures once the sun shines.

thanks for the guidance. I will pick up the tub...3-500 quid is better in my pocket than hisn.

Aha. Transfer box lever. It was just stiff. Now selects hi neutral and low. It's not keen on going into diff lock.

there's a missing linkage on the lock assy on the offside door....solve that pronlem with a steering wheel lock.

reglaezed to cab rear window with a sheet of lexan and some no nails...it'll do for now.

just leaves the mirror head....maybe it'll tighten up.
