Strange clutch-slipping type behaviour

Coke? Bit acidic, no?

I'm not sure how the oil would get in to be honest - except maybe through the hole where the shaft goes through the side of the bell housing. I assume everything is fairly watertight what with all the breathers that come up the bulkhead?

Still, anything that prevents having to take that damn gearbox off again has got to be worth a try!

its possible to run down from the top onto the bell housing to flywheel housing joint ,rear main seals tend to leak on rear of flywheel and not the clutch

The pipes are abit of apain had afew goes at mine ended up cable tieing mine to seal them and stop them spliting a fiddle but not leaked since

I thought that was one of the less painful jobs! Had to retrieve a manifold nut with my telescopic magnet but other than that it was OK. I took it all apart 2 days later just to check the glow-plugs were still all good. Pipes were still OK then. Will recheck though: a lot of heating an cooling there.

sorry dad spelling using phone with bad hand bloody dog bite

A story there, sure enough, son.

It has to go inside the bellhousing and was only used as a first aid, finish the rally bodge.:)

yep any thing to get to the finish, god we did some dodgey bodges i mean repaires to keep um running, exhaust clamps and ratchet staps on steering &suspention or us of big hammer:D

+1 what fun.:D:D

those were the days, drove car down to bournemouth did two day event then drove it home, one inlet manifold held on with gable ties and bungie strap to strut brace and track rods adjusted so wheels straight going forwards, put in revers went bad toe in, finished thougth, more than others did:D

Stick the clog in Tony:D:D:D

Well i mean whats the bloody use of stripping a clutch out and not at least fitting a spinner and maybe a release bearing. Or if you have any sense a complete clutch assembly. I mean how often do you want to be doing it? Total false economy just to wash the bloody thing if it's contaminated and put it back. Once you get oil in a friction material it's knackered. No matter how much you clean it the oil just weeps out when it gets hot. :D:D

Just so, spinner plate as opposed to pressure plate. Obviously some are not aware of trade slang. Anybody would think we were talking Dutch. :D:D:D

Which is a stupid bit of slang coz when you're stationary, in gear with the engine running and the clutch dipped the "spinner" is the only bit not spinning! :D

Maybe so, but that is what it's called and i have known it as that for over 50 years. Alan knew what i meant. Maybe i this day of enlightened technicians with their NVQs in plugging diag in it is called, "A stationary when in gear and the clutch is dipped plate". Most of them will never see one. :D:D:D
