    Series 3 floor boards

The black coating on up the underside would reduce vibration and also help protect aluminium from wear and tear , not original and not required. To seal the edges you can get a neoprene seal the one I bought is 20mm x 4mm ,comes with one sticky side. It also does the heater matrix to bulkhead...

I didn’t think about incompetence and arse covering but yes , when you said crank going up and down by how much , thinking did they even fit the bearings at all or only half of them If crank reground 10 thou and they put original bearings in it’s still not a lot of movement to notice

    Britpart parallel glow plug kit

Is it working as it should wiring as Britpart says, if you’re getting 12v at plugs and light comes on when they’re heating should be ok, the bulb is 6v but way I wired it the 12v bypassed the ballast resistor @mystery will have a more knowledgeable answer

    Gearbox fragments

Gearbox overhaul fairly easy, don’t need many special tools apart from HD circlip pliers, likely you won’t need to touch front output housing or transfer box and just main gearbox as tottot said you got the 3/4 gear synchro spring clips , there’s 3 in total but maybe other bits in there too...

    Engine oil series 3

I put Shell HX7 10- 40 in mine with the 200DI in, as it’s very similar engine as the 2286 can’t see it being a problem and would have benefits of keeping the internal engine bits cleaner

    Tappets failed

Turners reputedly are quite helpful and knowledgable, so was it the followers and tappet slides that both disintegrated , I presume the little bolts securing the steel slider housing were still tight The tappet slides themselves say which way faces front not sure if it makes a difference Have...
