How to add an 2 inch lift to a p38?

Wasn’t me. But I’ve looked at longer bump stops and couldn’t find any. The type used on a Disco/RRC/Defender are completely different design and shape & fitment. The p38 bump stops have more flex in them, they are designed so that you can drive a short way on them. A solid stop would be worse...

    Chassis swap

You are getting all mixed up and posting unhelpful stuff. A body swap is perfectly legal and apart from insurance you need to do nothing. You can't change the ID of a vehicle however. A Td5 chassis is a standard Land Rover chassis and original. In fact even the Tdi and pre Tdi chassis you buy...

    Gearbox Compatibility

    Td4 is the BMW engine.

    Chassis swap

Its not about getting one up. Its more about not telling people the wrong stuff. If you read the link (all sections) that you posted, there are several rule sets. Rebuilt or Radically Altered are the most likely to apply, however there is no guidance or process on how you decide which rule set...

    Chassis swap

Please provide some kind of reference/proof for this.... But have you applied common sense? :vb-poke-with-stick: Fitting a 300Tdi to a pre-Tdi is a fair amount of work, more than a 200Tdi. Depends what you do gearbox wise, but if R380 you'll need new seatbox and transmission tunnel too. And...

    Chassis swap

That is not how it is worded, it says: "original or new and unmodified" Or the original unmodified chassis or bodyshell (car or light van) a new chassis or monocoque bodyshell of the same specification as the original (car or light van) Depending which regs you are reading (there are more...

    Chassis swap

Not really. And the electrics are on par with a 1980s V8 setup...

    Chassis swap

A 200Tdi swap would potentially be a lot less work and end up with essentially the same result. If going to the effort of a 300Tdi swap, then a Td5 is not likely much more work for a substantially more powerful and refined engine.

    Chassis swap

Sadly this is not exactly the case and would depend on whom picks up the paperwork at the DVLA/DVSA. I know of more than one instance where such a rebuild has lost its ID. However, it is worth noting that the process is a self declaration form and signing and not a trial in a court. Therefore...

    Power Steering

Not much from a 110 will be a direct fit or replacement for 109 parts. Doors are about the only direct thing that will unbolt from one to the other without major mods.

    Steering

Yes, but it is generally a huge amount of work and not standard fitment....likely better solutions these days.

Series 3 Mobile phone holder suggestions

That's fine and all, but probably speaks volumes about your age and generation more than anything.... again nothing wrong with that. But things do evolve and progress. Just because you don't like or don't want to keep up doesn't make them wrong.

Series 3 Mobile phone holder suggestions

Distracted from or being part of driving a modern car? Lets face it, looking at a speedo, rev counter or any other gauge takes ones eyes off the road. As does looking out of the side windows or in the rear view mirrors. Let alone things like heater and fan controls or dare I say it a radio/stereo.

TomToms and the like feel so old to use these days. Google Maps or Apple Maps is generally far superior. They also integrate with your phone book/contacts and other features such as location sharing or saved locations on the map.

Not sure what you are on. That Ford is way too deep to drive quickly through it. I never mentioned people racing through it. You did.

I highly doubt anyone uses the ford as a race track though.... but a group of people turning up and driving through it a few times, parking up, chatting and maybe some kids running about on a hot day is all quite reasonable and should be within expectations.

You are missing the point.... Of course she has right to live there. But there is no right that it has to be in peace nor is the right to drive it one that has to be sensible. It just has to be legal.

I suppose. Although I bet the Ford has been there longer than her. Maybe living next to an attraction that people might want to visit and play there isn’t such a sensible idea when all said and done. Like buying a house near a race track then moaning about the noise from said track.

Disco 4 (LR4) manual gearbox slipping when towing

So when you say slipping. Is this something new and it didn’t used to do it? Have you towed with any other Disco 4’s or autos? An auto box has a fluid coupler called a torque converter. This will flash and allow more slip when loaded such as towing. It should still lock up at cruising speeds...
