I have bought a station wagon

another update on this, i have finished rebuilding the front brake callipers (replacements) to fit to this. you might be wondering why i am rebuilding the brakes with everything else that is wrong with it but the answer to that is that the current brakes are seized meaning it doesn't roll so...

    Losing fuel prime

Well quick update replacing the lift pump did not solve the issue but made a noticeable difference so the one fitted was certainly on the way out. leak off pipes are next when that arrives, what I thought was leak off pipe on the shelf was washer pipe! hopefully that will be the solve.

    Losing fuel prime

I have had several lift pumps fail which is why I now carry one in the vehicle, I am hoping that is my issue, the one fitted has only been in use about 12 months old but has done about 30k

    Losing fuel prime

    Losing fuel prime

The reason it hasn't yet been cleaned is that the pressure washer packed up so am waiting to borrow one, but it is on the list. I have not checked for blockages as once running smoothly it runs with no issues, like i said did 300 miles with it like that, but if symptoms persist after the swap...

    Losing fuel prime

This is a preemtive thread to bounce ideas around and discuss while I wait for the opportunity to actually do some work on the 200tdi. I am having symptoms which I assume are a loss of fuel prime. It is taking longer to crank over before starting, initially when dropping to idle after revving...

I have bought a station wagon

Another update as Progress is slow as expected with a baby but I have just spent my work bonus on some horribly expensive shiny parts from yrm that I immediately made less shiny with a good Twash ready for primer. Now before I primer these is there anywhere that needs to be seam sealed? I...

For Sale Parts clear out after rebuild

I do indeed. I do not know exactly what it is for as it was sold to me as a Salisbury diffguard which it definitely is not. On some googling it matched the rover type front axle guards. I thought disco/defender/rrc were the same in that respect. looked to match the shape of this one which states...

2008 110 xs utility strip down advice

The sides off on the red 110 were to replace the capping and while there I took the opportunity to paint it, hence everything being stripped off. The green 90 was to swap from van sided to window sides so all I was doing was removing and refitting the side panels which took about an hour per...

    Steve's Land Raft

I need to do this on the hardtop tub as it has gone in the same place where the seatbelt brackets are at each end. do you have some more details on how this is fitted as it does not look like full width repair panel? does that mean it just glues/riveted over the top?

2008 110 xs utility strip down advice

To replace the capping you need to remove the side panels and you can remove the side panels without removing the roof. I have done this on both 110 and 90. It might not strictly be a nut ad bolt job to replace the capping but it is in essence and although large is not a difficult job. It...

    Sealing roof gutters

I used white sikafelx for mine. removed all the old sealant, made sure i did not seal the drain holes in the corners and it did not cure the leaking roof! on the job list this summer is to go over the roof seams as i only did the gutter, and also seal the rear roof vents as these are apparently...

DEFENDER rubber tunnel 1987 2.5 petrol

do you mean the rubber cover over the transmission tunnel? If so that happens to all of them, they are part number MUC1621. you should still be able to get new replacements (i bought one about 12 months ago) but they are not as cheap as you would like them to be!

    Steve's Land Raft

I know a little late to comment as you have fitted an moved on, but vented discs fill with mud and stop being vented if you venture off road any more than occasionally, but not a problem if mostly road worked. I would also always recommend fitting stainless pistons to new callipers to ensure you...

    New (to me) LT230

What release bearing are you fitting? I have found that even when brand new the HD metal ones like to have a bit of a rattle. As annoying as it is I have learned to live with it, as although the plastic ones start quiet they quickly rattle as well and then fail sooner!

    Stuck Momo steering wheel

I also did not realise they were a sperate part, I though tit was integrated into the steering wheel. But I also agree with the previous comments these are the beast steering wheel for a defender!

Wider Wheel Arch / Eyebrow Pic Request

if you wheels do not stick out why for you want the wider arches? the only reason to fit them is for spacers or oversized tyres that stick out the standard arches. I have 265/75/16 on 8" modulars fitted to mine and they sit level with the edge of the standard arch.

    Transfer box leaks

yes, but see my comment in post #3, was very misleading on my hunt for leaks!

    Cracked & split mudflaps

I think you can get replacements with the land rover logo on them as well, but the above will keep them, going for a little longer. you will find that they fail at the same point in the future though as that is the place they flex and eventually crack.

    A frame Ball joint

you used to be able to get adjustable ones as well, so when you get play in it you can just knock the rear cup around and it screws in removing the slack. I had one fitted for a while, not sure if I replace with the same was a while ago now. but it meant when you started to get play you...
